OK, I've got to let this off my chest, uncensored.
Today Rich's 2nd class pretty much ordered him to take part of his duty day tomorrow. And refused to take Rich's duty day on Sunday. Even though Rich's dad is in town and we've got tickets (thanks to the ship) for a Padres game. The guy is a real asshole sometimes, and this just adds to it. The guy refused because his wife would kill him for having 2 duty days in a row, after getting back from a 2 week trip to Wisconsin (Green Bay area) to see his wife's family. Not only that, but asshole owes us at least $75, and will occasionally say "I'll get it to you, but not this check because we don't have it". They are/were so heavy in debt, they are in the process of declaring bankruptcy. You know that means that tax payers are paying off their debts. Yeah, that pisses me off to because she can't control her spending. Before getting assigned to the ship they were assigned to Great Lakes, to be closer her family, and she went to see her family quite often, and used the credit cards to pay for it. I'm not totally against everyone declaring bankruptcy if they need to, because there are many people that really try and just can't do it. I don't think they even tried. His wife used to be a friend, but there were times it was hard to be. She always complained of the drama of her other friends, but I think that she was part of it. I haven't heard from her in a few months, and honestly, I don't care. I just needed to vent because I'm just pissed off, this guy pulled rank on Rich because he could and didn't want to help us out. I'm just thankful that Rich's dad is understanding that things come up that we can't control sometimes. I think he was disappointed though. But at least he's gotten to spend time with Olivia, and she's loved playing with him. Good thing Rich won't be going to Utah with us on Monday for my cousin's wedding. His leave probably would've gotten canceled if he was and we'd be out the cost of the plane ticket. But, life goes on, and even though these experiences suck and we hate them, it teaches Rich how NOT to behave when he outranks others.
ETA: Its Saturday, and Rich ended up getting a voicemail last night telling him that he didn't have to go in for the guy today. I'm glad for that. I'm still not happy that he has to have duty on Sunday, but oh well. Now to just get our money from the moron and I'd be happier. Although at this point, I don't expect it to happen.
